AAMCO Transmissions AAMCO ripoff puts on the brakes when it comes to service and professionalism Ardmore Pennsylvania!!
June 14, 2006 I was having brake problems with my 1998 Dodge, Stratus. I took it to the AAMCO in Ardmore, PA. They resurfaced my rotors and performed other brake services. The cost was $831.55. Mid July my brakes were not working properly again, it would take the minimum of half a block of braking to come to a full stop. I took the car back and they went on two test drives and said the mechanic could find nothing wrong with my breaks. I went on a third test drive and explained to the mechanic that was riding with me from AAMCO what was happening when I was braking. He then said something must be wrong with another part of the brake system that was part of the engine. The mechanic told me it would be quite expensive to fix because he would practically have to take apart some of the engine. The owner said he would write up an estimate for me but there were no guarantees that what the mechanic said was wrong, is actually the problem. I told them not to bother, I had already spent too much money there and the problem wasn’t even corrected. August 2, 2006 I had my car inspected at Goodyear in Ardmore, PA. I was informed that my car would not pass inspection because my front rotors needed to be replaced. I explained that I just had them resurfaced 5 or 6 weeks ago. They said that whoever resurfaced them had grind them too low to pass inspection. I called AAMCO and explained the situation. They told me that Goodyear was wrong but they would take a look at it. I said, “If Goodyear is correct, I would like to have new rotors installed minus the cost of the resurfacing which was $90 and minus the labor cost. I was told by Tim Young that was fine and to bring it in by 8:00 am and he would have it looked at it right away. August 3, 2006 I arrive at AAMCO by 7:55 am and give them copies of their work done on 6/14 and the results of the inspection from Goodyear. Tim took my keys and said we will call you and let you know. I said, “I thought you were going to look at it right away. I thought I could wait.” Tim snidely replied, “No! I told you to drop it off and we’ll get to it in the morning.” I told him that wasn’t what he said. He said, “Maybe you should get your ears checked!” I told him, “I am so frustrated, this is my 3rd time here for the same problem.” His reply was, “You don’t know what frustration is!” He also informed me, without even looking at my car rotors that Goodyear was wrong. I said, “They aren’t wrong and you’re going to fix your mistake.” Tim started yelling, “He wasn’t going to fix anything now”, and put my keys and paperwork on the desk for me to take and leave. I told him I was going to call the police, his replied quite sarcastically, “And what are the police going to do?” I said, “Oh I’m sorry, I meant the state police, they maybe interested in how you conduct business here concerning state inspections.” He then took my keys and paperwork and said, “I’ll get to it when I get to it.” I left and called the AAMCO main headquarters in Horsham, PA at (610)538-0004 and left a voicemail telling them of how I was treated by the owner. I called AAMCO at 10:45 am to see if they were finished with my car. Tim said, “NO! call back in another half hour.” I did so and Tim informed me there was absolutely nothing wrong with the rotors. I once again asked then why won’t they pass inspection. He said, “I am going to take off the old rotors, put ones on that are not as good as the one’s you have now and I am keeping them to sell.” I told him fine and hung up. The more I thought about it, I wanted my old rotors back to be sure he actually put new ones on, I also thought it was wrong of him to have inferior rotors put on my car. I called him back and told him I wanted my old rotors back. He said, “No, since I am not charging you for the other rotors, I am keeping them for payment.” I already explained that I would pay for the new rotors minus the $90 + labor cost of the original work done on 6/14/06. This was not acceptable to me so Tim said, “Fine I’ll take off the rotors I put on, put the old ones back on.” I said, “No, I wanted my old rotors back.” He said, “NO! you’re not going to get them.” I called the headquarters of AAMCO again and explained everything to an agent that said they were going to call the service station and see what they could do and get back to me. They never got back to me. I started calling back at 3:00 and finally was referred to Sunny Brown, the agent taking care of the complaint. She read the complaint and said the person that called AAMCO said that Tim would not give the rotors back because he was going to resell them and there was nothing more she could do. I asked to speak to her supervisor, Ms. R. King but she was on vacation. I am so upset with the way I was treated with such unprovoked disrespect. I also am quite concerned with the way AAMCO does business. They should not be able to resell these inferior rotors to an unsuspecting customer. I called Goodyear and explained the entire situation to them. They couldn’t have been nicer. They instructed me not to leave without my rotors. Jay from Goodyear is going to call AAMCO tomorrow and discuss the situation with them and go up there with his micrometer to measure the rotors. Gina Bryn Mawr, PennsylvaniaU.S.A.
