Corporate, state and regulatory agencies were due to inspect the AmericInn Hotel in Windsor, CO the third week of June 2012. The place needed fresh paint and the former GM, Mike, and a maintenance man contacted me to paint the common areas on three floors, the conference room, kitchen and front desk, in multiple colors and retreat the wood trim during a time when fires swept thru the mountain side, causing evacuees to seek refuge at the hotel. Work commenced, was well organized and completed before inspectors arrived, but I’ve not been able to get paid for services rendered in the amount of $1,500 plus delinquent fees for the past year. According to the new GM, April, Mike was unavailable to reauthorize payment for the work and my invoice was not sufficient to prove Mike hired me to do the work at the rate of pay, 15 dollars per hour, as billed. Everyone on the crew busted their hump to get the place ready for inspections. I worked 15 hours per day to ensure completion of the project before Inspectors arrived. Corporate and staff express no gratitude, and offer no compensation as if they could care less about anyone after they begged us to assist them in bringing the hotel back from neglectful conditions to competitive standards.
