Complaint: I was doing great for the first 4 hours since joining the site. I managed to list close to 50 books and had mailed out 3. I was very happy because I could potentially order 4 books I wanted. Also I was in the middle of retrieving delivery tracking numbers for all my books I had placed in the mail using my money for postage when suddenly I had been logged out from the account. I thought this was a normal timeout procedure and all I had to do was log back in, but this was not the case. After repeatedly trying to log in I found out my account was disabled. I sent emails to tech support and was greeted with deafening silence. This situation continued for 4 more days until I did a look up of my account profile and found it had been emptied of my book inventory and all my book requests [“mooches””] from other “”moochers”” as well as wish list had been unceremoniously cleared out and cancelled. I even was in talks with a very polite overseas moocher who wanted one of my books and I had already agreed to give it

Address: when she told me I on had cancelled the request and closed my account. I will be sending the book free of charge btw

Website: so I know they never contacted me about anything except the initial welcome to bookmooch email. Stay away from this fraudulent book club. I suggest using paperbackswap

Phone: bookmooch be damned! So there you have it. I never received a reply to any of the emails I sent to tech support instead my account was terminated and I am out the cost of shipping

Yes it is. Based on the user review published on, it is strongly advised to avoid California in any dealing and transaction.
Not really. In spite of the review published here, there has been no response from California. Lack of accountability is a major factor in determining trust.
Because unlike, other websites get paid to remove negative reviews and replace them with fake positive ones. California is rated 1 out of 5 based on the complaints submitted by our users and is marked as POOR.
Never trust websites which offer a shady ‘advocacy package’ to businesses. Search for relevant reviews on Ripoff Report and Pissed Consumer to see more unbiased complaints.
The above complaints and comments against California were submitted by user(s) and have been published as-is. does not edit, alter or remove content published by it’s users. There’s no amount of money a business can pay to manipulate their complaints and will NOT entertain any request to remove the complaint on California at any cost whatsoever.
