I’ve never shopped at Burlington Coat Factory before but I needed a coat and most stores don’t sell them in July, so I went there. I picked out a jacket but wasn’t sure if it was what I wanted, so before I paid for it, I asked the cashier if it was returnable in case I changed my mind. He assured me it was returnable so I paid with a credit card and left. nLater that day I found a jacket I liked better at another store and bought it. Today I tried to return the first one to BCF, but all they offered was a store credit. Since this isn’t a store I normally shop at, I refused and asked for a credit to my visa card. The cashier refused and called a manager, who said this is their store policy. I explained about the clerk telling me it was returnable, which she agreed was wrong, but still she refused to honor the return. nThey are telling me that their ‘no return’ policy is printed on the receipt, but the receipt was given to me AFTER the sale was complete and it was already too late to be undone. nSeems to me, if their clerk told me an item was returnable (there is a huge difference between return and exchange), then that is an error on their part and they need to make good on it. nCrystalnEl Paso, TexasU.S.A.
