Carnival magic July 2018 my 24 year son received a compound fracture of his finger from his cabin door… So for the rest of the cruise he can’t go in the water. We come back on board in Roatan and my 21 year old heads to the hot tub… an hour later we receive a call in our cabin from the ship that my son has left the ship and we have 20 min to get him back on board before the ship leaves port. I rush down to the gangway The crew shows me that son scanning our IDs on board the ship and 45 min later him scanning off. I am told I now have 15 min to find him. I ask to have him paged, the crew refuses and refuses to show me a video video of him leaving. The officer says itu2019s full proof I rush off the boat while the crew is refusing to help me even after I tell him my 21 year old is high functioning autistic and if he got off the boat someone took him. A port worker for carnival takes me on a golf cart around the port shopping area which is empty. He then tells me if my son is out there then he is more then likely taken or dead… at which point I loose it. We start searching in the bushes and brush for a dead body…I go back to the ship and refuse to get off the gangway pleading for help crying hysterically not ONE carnival employee helps, they stand around staring at me. The officer then tells me the ship is leaving in 5 min and I plead agian for help. I am told he’s 21 and can do what he wants but I need to make a choice to stay or get back on the boat. My husband is there crying saying he can’t find him and the ship refuses to page him or help. I tell my husband to run to the room and get a bag and my passport that I can’t leave him and to throw the bag off the balcony if the ship pulls away. I am told by the ship if I get off its my choice so I get off the boat and stand there screaming for help… still the ship refuses to page him or pull the video of him getting off the boat so I can find out who has him. my husband is running to the room he screams again to page our son! Finally he is paged My son is on the ship and hears his name. He NEVER left the boat! I am on the dock alone and our son walking back to his cabin with 2 guards screaming at him…. my husband screams for someone to call down to get me back on the ship because itu2019s leaving Not one crew said a word to me The guards are still screaming at my son and my son is now scared not knowing what is going on screaming he never left the boat! We all literally cried all night. 2 days later we are trying to find out what happened and no one on the boat cares! finally the head of guest services and security finally met with us our last full day and said their scanner malfunctioned and they didn’t want to page our son and disrupt 3000 passengers and if I stayed in Roatan it would have been my issue not theirs even though they told me he was off the boat when he wasn’t. We told them to contact carnival headquarters and get them involved to making this right for our family. We called Carnival when we returned to NJ and they knew nothing about it. Supposably they are looking into the incident. Carnival did call us back a few days later and told us the ship said everything was worked out to their satisfaction which couldnu2019t be further from the truth. They offered to reimburse us $300 ship credit which they said was a days cost for 4 people for 2 cabins which is not correct by a long shot. received a call from carnival saying none of this took place. They are denying everything now even down to calling our room to say our son was off the boat. They said that their report from the ship is accurate and that we were the ones who went to guest services to say our son was lost. 100% not true at all! We have been refused a copy of the incident, a copy of the video of us screaming on the dock for help because they said he was dead or taken. Carnival is saying that none of it took place. Carnival now is saying they did a cabin search and found him in his cabin, again another lie and guest care says the issue is closed. Carnival is covering up a huge issue that terrified my family and have now altered the records and submitted false reports. Terrible company! Carnival now has taken down all of my posts about the experience from Facebook. Carnival corporation only wants to hear the good stories not the frightening ones that terrorize a family. Guest care representatives Carrie Anconetani, Laura Adams, and Janice Delgotto have told 4 fabricated versions of carnivals investigation of our complaint to cover up a traumatic event we had on board Magic in June. If you have a problem on board your on your own. Your in a foreign country and the crew will stand by and not help! We lived it first hand and were traumatized due to events caused by the crew onboard to our family! Now guest care is making a terrible experience even worse by lying and covering it up. We have been refused the opportunity to speak to their supervisors Arlene Marichal and AnthonyBernardino.
