I got onto what I thought appeared to be the a certain hotels website and attempted to book a hotel room. I got the number off the site and called what I thought was the hotels nomber to book a room. As I was talking the respresentative I specifically asked if it was that Hotel. I was told it was. As I talked to agent I had a few questions about the hotel that weren’t answered directly. I asumed they weren’t answered directly becuase I was talking to the chains head office not the individual hotel. I was quoted a rate that was higher than on the website and was told it was because of the taxes, which seemed really high. I stated to them that we were a cash couple only. The representative stated that our card was to be used for holding purposes only. At that moment I was just happy to have a hotel booked. A couple days later we noticed that the full amount had been pulled from our checking account. Five days later I had my wife call to check on some parking information. We discovered that we actually didn’t have a room booked. She pulled up the confirmation email to discover that it was from a booking agency. (HotelPlusPortal) The hotel asked for a copy of the confirmation to be emailed to them. They examined it and responded with an email stating that they do not honor bookings from Hotel Plus Portal. When she spoke with Hotel Plus Portals they stated they had just been unable to get in contact with the hotel. After contacting them multiple times and being placed on hold everytime we called they stated that they were still unable to contact our hotel. My wife gave them the number to call, they talked to the hotel, and then stated that they could no longer get us a room at that hotel. They would refund us. Two day later we received an email stating it would take 10-15 days to receive our refund if it was approve. To not contact our bank or the athoraties. My wife contacted them this am stating that 10-15 days was not going to work, and was told that a portion of the funds were already on there way back as of last night. When we contacted our bank as of end of day today the funds are stilll not showing up. We are still waiting on the refund. Now we had to pay for a room through the actual chain and this will be a second time we will be paying for the room.
