I booked a hotel through hotwire.com and have had the worst possible customer experience with them. Despite the actual booking process working seamlessly and without issue (who would expect anything less from a company owned by expedia), this was where the good experience of rolling the dice for a good hotel deal ended.nFirstly, I stated I was looking for a 4-star hotel in a designated area of Berlin. Hotwire proudly stated on the site that examples of 4-star hotels included hotels from the Sheraton, Hilton and Westin hotels, you can imagine the 5-star surprise I received when we got given the Best Western (excuse the faux par) that was on the border of the highlighted hotel location.nNow I am a reasonable person, who does not pre-judge, so I decided to hit the travel reviews to give this place a thorough check. However, one can understand my disappointment where there were no shortage of reviews stating not only should it not be considered a 4 star hotel (on the actual hotels American site, it is 3-star), the actual location is not somewhere you should walk around at night. Additionally, at the time other sites were offering the hotel for a cheaper rate (my fault I didnt take a screenshot but hey, so much for the thrill of pot-luck who would have thought you would pay for the privilege).nWhen I contacted Hotwire for some clarification (I do understand their terms and conditions), all I got was sanitized, by-the-book standardized responses. The bewildering addition to this fact is that I didnt even for a refund. All I am asking for (literally begged) them to consider moving me to a more respectable hotel that is more up to their stated four site standards, as was promised on the site. I offered to pay extra for this to happen.nMy problem is the response from their customer service. Their replies are all generic and they do not budge at all on the fact that I am a completely unhappy customer. I have told them that I will not be staying the their hotel allotted to me, but this is of no concern to them. They clearly would rather have extremely unhappy, non-returning customer than a happy returning one. nI urge everyone to stay away from this company, rather book a hotel where you know where you are going so as not to be ripped off like I was. nA total waste of good money!
