Avoid Hotwire since their business model is based on non-illegal thievery and they don’t save you money. Also, avoid their business affiliates, such as Alamo, for making contractual agreements with Hotwire.com. nI booked a car rental through Hotwire.com and they selected Alamo. However, when I received the emailed itinerary from Hotwire I was shocked to learn that the wrong month was booked. I swear I triple checked the dates before submitting the reservation. I immediately phoned their support and was further shocked that they refused any attempt for correct the error in the dates, even though it was more than 30 days in advance, and even more shocking, they refused any form of a refund on the $465.17 charge (Just image if I had booked a car for more than two weeks!). And to no surprise, my bank decline reversing the dispute on the Visa credit card; and with pleasure, the bank has received their card cut in two. I did rent from Alamo via another service that did not take money up front and allowed fully refundable cancellations. Their price was equivalent to the Hotwire theft. nIn retribution, boycotting business that affiliate with Hotwire is a solution to shunting their predatory business model. The A+ rating with BBB reveals more about the BBB reliance on selling out ratings than less on their reputable service.
