I simply can not adequately express my frustration with Ortho Bethesda! After a series of falls I hobbled ever so painfully into the office for my scheduled appointment. After waiting for about 15 minutes, the receptionist steps out to tell me that since I fell at work and would possibly be submitting a Worker’s compensation claim, I could not be seen by Dr. Schluntz. Desperate, and consumed by pain, I asked if anybody else could or would see me. The doctor who handles Worker’s Compensation patients (why is there a difference in level of care anyway?) was fully booked and the Worker’s Compensation Specialist was on vacation ( good for them).
I pleaded with the receptionist to reconsider, I even promised not to file a claim, I wasn’t going to any way but, nobody in that practice would see me in my moment of need. I then had no choice because of my pain level than to head to Urgent Care. The doctor there took one look at my profusely effused knee and sent me immediately to the ER at Suburban. It was important to rule out a life threatening DVT. As I headed to Suburban, I wondered what would have happened to me had a DVT been my issue and I had simply gone home after being refused care at Ortho Bethesda? Why was my life and my right to health care not regarded at this place? I will NEVER set foot in that Boogie establishment again because I do not support medical practices that have no social justice training or care.
