God help me, I was helping my husband and his brothers find a short term rehab for my mother in law. I saw it had 5 stars so it was prob a good place right? Wrong! The nursing staff were very nice but the system is very institutional and NOT rehab oriented. In short term rehab, a plan should be in place put together by the interdisciplinary team from day 1 . The communication is just not there. She has been there 4 days and they still haven’t figured out a d/c plan. Meanwhile my mother in law is in bed, eating crappy food, getting very little “intense” rehab and going down hill fast. It was only supposed to be for a week or 2 but their (the teams) first meeting wasn’t scheduled until day 10. Talk about milking the system. It’s very institutional, not homey or comforting. If you want “culture change” this is not the facility to go to. It’s depressing and sad. Go visit other ones that claim “home like”. This one will bring anyone down. Now we want to pull her out, SHE can get the same care at home from home health and they call it AMA. They even said we cannot send her home with any scripts including antisiezure meds! Unethical to say the least. Don’t go here for rehab!
