I went in for my semi annual cleaning which is 100% covered by my insurance. As I left I was charged $80. When I asked why, they said they had to use an irrigation mouthwash. I know a dental hygienist who said this costs two dollars a gallon. It was not disclosed prior to using it, and it was not required. My husband had the same thing happened to him. He was told however that this $80 charge was because he would have two cleanings within six months instead of one. This made sense. He came back to the second cleaning, and guess what? He was charged another $80! The doctor would not return phone calls and nothing was done about it.
