White Bay Trading Corporation Bangor Maine Review

On 09/18/2015 I purchased a membership in The Bahia privilege club for $11,300 plus $875 processing. The sales persons name was Malcolm and his presentation was to good to turn down and unfortunately it turned out also to be to good to be true. I will address my grievances one at a time. 1. Although it is a not common practice of The Bahia privilege club the sales person Malcolm was drinking alcohol during his sales pitch. And the reason I assume that it isn’t a common practice of The Bahia privilege club is because he told me when he was ordering the drinks that it wasn’t. Now whether or not this may have influenced him to lie to us I couldn’t say and whether he was drinking prior to us getting there I also could not say but either way I thought it was unprofessional. 2. Malcolm began his sales pitch by asking us how much we paid for our room to which told him That we got a great deal for $73 per person/per night. He then proceeded to tell us how he could save us 30% over the lowest price on the Internet. He then pulled out a photocopy of the pricelist(not a glossy one like in the packet) that showed our same hotel The Bahia Ambar for only $47 per person/per night. I noticed that when we asked him if we could keep the photo copy of the pricelist he said no that he couldn’t do that and that we would get one in our packet at the end, at the same time he put the photocopy in his briefcase then pulled it back out wrote something on it and said here go ahead and take it. This in the confidence world is called the bait and switch but I am not suggesting that this is a common practice of your company or it’s employees just that I believe he may have used this method on us. When we got back to the room I looked at the price list in our packet and it said the Ambar was $82 per person/per night. I know that it was the Bahia Amber because it was in the middle of the list not the beginning like the San Juan at the top of the list. Common sense alone would beg to ask the question, why would anyone pay $11,300 for a membership when they could pay $9 less per person/per night without it? The pricelist that he showed us, was one of the biggest reasons we signed up. Another thing that he told us that was not true was that the prices on the pricelist would never go up because we were part of a special promotion that was going on for the first 100 people that signed up and we were one of the first 100.That was the second reason we signed up. That is what makes me to believe that Malcolm was not telling us the whole truth. 3. At one point Malcolm told us that the Bahia’s were all around the world and then asked us to name three places around the world that we would like to go. We mentioned Brazil, Belize and Fiji. He then told us that there was a Bahia in Brazil and Belize but not in Fiji and that is when he began to talk about R.C.I.’s. I know this because after we got back to our room I took a look at the packet they gave us after we signed the papers and saw that the Bahia’s are in fact not in Brazil or Belize and again that is what makes believe that Malcolm was not telling us the whole truth. 4. During the sales and again during the signing of the papers we told both Malcolm and the person at the signing that we were not Married but on the papers it said we were. They both told us it was only for statistical reasons, which struck me as odd because I would assume that they would want accuracy for your statistics. Upon contacting The company they showed no real concern about whether or not malcolm had run a scam but kept talking about the contract agreement and all the procedures they take in thier legal department to go over the agreement, which has nothing to do with the benifits of the membership Malcolm offered. After multiple emails back and forth, thier final offer is to give me back my money except for $2010.00 that they say is for membership and cancelation costs that they incurred. They sent me a paper to sign promising not to sue them and they’ll return the rest of the fund I placed on my credit card. I don’t know if I should agree to sign the paper but if I don’t then Im on the hook for the full $12,175.00. I asked them to send me an report as to what the actual losses they incurred are. I have looked online and have found a lot of people that have run into a similar situation. One of the biggest problems is that they are not a part of the Bahia Principe Resorts even though they have the Bahia Principe name and there sales offices are located on thier property. Also it is impossible to find contact info for the Bahia Principe corporate offices in order to find out if they are aware of these unscupulous activities being portrayed by the Bahia principe privilege club. If you could any info about this situation or if you know of any alternative ways to settle this situation I would appreciate it. Thank You Robert Lewis
